This site is provided by Dr. Pauline Lysak, a psychiatrist in Victoria, BC (see lysak.org for information about her medical practice) to share information about mental health care in BC. The primary goal is to assist people she cannot help individually in her medical practice. Most of the resources provided on the site are absolutely free. There are a small number of resources (e.g., books, courses) where there is a small fee to offset the cost of producing them.

This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by BC Psychiatrist, accessible from https://www.bcpsychiatrist.com, and how we use it.

Log Files

BC Psychiatrist follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

We use a small number of trusted third parties to help provide our services, and with whom your data may be shared in the process. The BC Psychiatrist website relies on the following third party services:

  • Kajabi: primary infrastructure the website is built on (hosting content, accounts, online courses, mailing lists, etc.)
  • Google: used to provide information on web traffic (Google analytics)
  • Facebook: we use Facebook 'pixel' to track web events for visitors who arrive via Facebook

BC Psychiatrist's Privacy Policy does not apply to other websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party sites for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.

Children's Privacy

BC Psychiatrist does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
